About Hernando
History. Hospitality. Home.
Hernando, Mississippi’s name may honor the intrepid Spanish explorer who sought comfort here just prior to crossing the Mississippi River on May 8th, 1541, but in truth, this scenic, fertile, and historic area had provided a safe and comfortable home for native Americans families for generations prior to its namesake’ visit.
And today, much like those days so long ago, Hernando continues to be a welcoming, safe, and close-knit community, proud of its history, but equally inspired by the possibilities of its future.
As a resident of Gray’s Creek in Hernando, Mississippi, you’ll live just moments away from quaint boutiques and convenient national retailers, chef-owned farm-to-table bistros, and your kids’ favorite chicken nuggets. Today’s Hernando is a bustling small town brimming with commerce, culture, and most importantly - community.
